AHRQ Releases New Resources for Health IT System Adoption 11/1/2009
New information for health care providers adopting health information technology (health IT) systems is now available on AHRQ’s National Resource Center (NRC) on Health Information Technology. The new topic areas, found on the NRC’s health IT bibliography Web page, include disease registries, personal health records, usability testing, education and training, privacy and security, quality measurement and improvement, and transitions in care. The health IT bibliography represents both peer-reviewed articles from professional journals and Web-based resources from highly respected health care and IT organizations. The bibliography’s articles and resources provide knowledge and insight that may help clinicians and organizations implement systems and models related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act
HRSA's Office for the Advance of Telemedicine (HRSA-OAT) - This site provides information regarding the various telemedicine grants that are available as well as listings of current grant recipients and program descriptions.
Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) - In addition to other activities ONC is responsible for Developing, maintaining, and directing the implementation of HHS’ strategic plan to guide the nationwide implementation of interoperable health information technology in both the public and private health care sectors.
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) launched a new site on 6/22/09 on Health Information Technology as provided for in ARRA. On this web site you can find information pertaining to Medicare and Medicaid incentives for EHR adoption, resources for EHR adoption and security and privacy (HIPAA) as well as links to other government sites.
The National eHealth Collaborative (NeHC)- NeHC is a public-private partnership that is leading the nation in accelerating the adoption and efficient use of interoperable health information technology to improve our nation's overall health and well-being. NeHC is responsible for overseeing the National Health Information Network (NHIN), the Certification commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) and the Health Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP).
Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) - CCHIT is a recognized certification body (RCB) for electronic health records and their networks, and an independent, voluntary, private-sector initiative. Its mission is to accelerate the adoption of robust, interoperable health information technology by creating a credible, efficient certification process. Health centers who are in process of selecting an EHR should visit this site to determine which EHR vendors have obtained CCHIT certification. Health cetners are strongly encouraged to select EHR vendors who have obtained CCHIT certification.

The Panel was formed for the purpose of harmonizing and integrating standards that will meet clinical and business needs for sharing information among organizations and systems.
