Executive Director/Clinical Director
Teche Action Board, Incl
Dr. Wiltz a New Orleans native arrived at Teche Action Clinic in 1982 as part of his obligated three-year commitment to the National Health Service Corp. His three year commitment has turned into a lifetime commitment. Teche Action Clinic has been on the forefront of providing primary preventive health care for people with chronic ills. Despite the temporary closure of two of its sites from power outages, Teche Action Clinic was able to swing into action to provide health care and address the immediate needs of the evacuees many of whom suffer from chronic diseases, diabetes or hypertension. Teche Action Clinic’s main facility is located approximately 100 miles west of New Orleans where it has provided health care for over 32 years. As of May, Teche Action Clinic has cared for hundreds of Katrina evacuees, added two displaced providers, and by the end of August will be employing five evacuees on its staff. Dr. Wiltz has been widely quoted in the Louisiana press on community health care issues and was a featured guest on the National Public Radio program, “News and Notes with Ed Gordon,” as an expert on the uninsured middle class.
