AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETC): The AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETC) National Resource Center website provides a central repository for AETC program and contact information and for training materials developed within the AETC network. This specific page contains tools and resources related to HIV testing in a variety of health care settings and for a variety of population groups.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) HIV Testing: This link will take you to HIV testing information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including the latest testing recommendations, the rationale for routine HIV screening as a part of regular medical care, implementation guidance for various health care settings and information about rapid test kits currently on the market. Find information in the forms of questions and answers, fact sheets, slide sets, podcasts, reports and journal articles.
In November 2010, CDC selected HIV testing as an important public health topic for its CDC Vital Signs program. Get Vital Information on HIV Testing, including the latest findings on who is at risk, state level data, and recommendations for individuals, communities, physicians, local and state health departments, and government. The online content is also available as a fact sheet.
The HIV Screening. Standard Care. program, which is a part of CDC’s Act Against AIDS communication campaign, provides free tools and resources for incorporating HIV testing into primary care settings, including provider and patient education materials.
Society for General Internal Medicine (SGIM) Routine HIV/AIDS Testing: This link will take you to the Routine HIV/AIDS Testing page on the Society for General Internal Medicine (SGIM) website. Here you will find a toolkit to support expanded HIV testing in primary care settings. The toolkit, designed for general internists and clinician educators, contains resources for clinician education, patient education and clinic preparation.
The Forum for Collaborative HIV Research Updates on Routine HIV Testing: This link will take you to The Forum for Collaborative HIV Research web page on routine HIV testing in the United States. Find models and protocols, publications, event and policy announcements and noteworthy news. The goal of The Forum is to optimize care and treatment of those affected by HIV/AIDS and its scope includes research addressing prevention, treatment strategy, health services utilization and health policy. The Forum includes representatives from government, industry, patient advocates, health care providers, academia and foundations.
