Listed here are presentations relating to the implementation of routine HIV screening.

Successfully Implementing Routine HIV Screening in an FQHC -- SlidesThis is a presentation by Karen McCraw, Chief Program Officer of Family First Health in south-central Pennsylvania.  The presentation was given on September 13, 2010 in a session at NACHC's Community Health Institute (CHI) entitled, National Strategies and New Roles for Health Centers in HIV Screening, Care, and Treatment.  The presentation starts with a brief overview of Family First Health and its patient demographics and continues with a description of how the center transitioned from limited/risk-based HIV testing with traditional testing technologies to offering rapid HIV testing to all patients organization-wide. Key points covered include organizational strengths that facilitated the transition to routine HIV screening, funding, licenses, staffing, training, forms, policies and protocols, linkages to care, partnerships, data collection and reporting, billing, and lessons learned.

  

Routine HIV Testing in Community Health Centers — Slides and Audio Recording:  This is a presentation by Cheryl Modica, PhD, MPH, BSN; Janet Myers, PhD; and Kathy McNamara of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC). The presentation was given on November 13, 2008 during an audio conference sponsored by the Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET) and NACHC, "Implementing Routine HIV Screening in Community Health Centers: A Success Story." The presentation includes background information about NACHC and Community Health Centers; a description of the implementation, post-test counseling and specialty care referral models used in a routine HIV screening pilot program in Community Health Centers; and data from the pilot.
